During 2015 and 2016, INPELSA carried out the project “DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW COATING FOR TEXTILES AND SKINS”, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), under the Operational Program for Intelligent Growth 2014-2020, with the aim of boosting research, technological development and innovation.
The main objective of the project has been the revaluation of the byproducts generated in the company. In particular, a textile and / or leather finish has been developed based on the skin cuts generated during the tanning process.
The main objective has been carried out together with other complementary actions. Thus, a more sustainable production process has been proposed for the tanning industry, introducing changes in the production process capable of reducing environmental costs, and offering a more natural material. In particular this has been implemented through the development of a computer tool that is able to calculate the environmental impacts derived from the industrial process of the company.
