Within our company, many policies and actions are designed with the aim of minimising the environmental impact of our production process. Thus, we can fulfill our core objective of developing our business without compromising the well-being of future generations.
We believe that our activity plays a significant environmental role, because we are able to manage lambskin, a by-product of the food-processing industry which is typically a waste product, and transform it into a product with a high added value, including ecological value.
All lambskins used in our production process have a guarantee of traceability that is supported with SANDACH standards. These policies govern animal by-products from their origin until the point they are generated for end-use. Valuation and destruction are regulated in order to ensure that no risk is generated during the production process for human and animal health, and also to guarantee the safety of the human and animal food chain.
Throughout all of our processes we follow a conscientious environmental policy that comprises waste, atmospheric emissions and noise issues. In order to comply with these policies, we have the following facilities in our tannery:
- Wastewater treatment plant which ensures that our waste complies with all current regulations and standards.
- Cogeneration gas plant that produces electric power for self-consumption, in order to improve power management and reduce emissions.
- Photovoltaic panels that generate electric power through solar light, and contribute to the environmental sustainability with the use of clean and renewable energies.

Research and development activities are managed in INPELSA through the Research and Development Division (R+D) and are performed in a lab designed exclusively for the production of samples and the launching of new products.
All the activities performed are intended to provide the best possible technology at the different levels of the production process, finished products and environmental sustainability.
Our company currently has the capabilities to manufacture all the different products of our inventory fulfilling our client’s requirements of human health and environmental protection.
We are consistently engaged in Research + Development (R+D) Projects, both nationally and internationally. Among the most important projects that we have been developing recently, we would like to highlight the following:

WOOL4BUILD® is a natural insulating material that is based 100% on recycled sheep wool with high thermal and acoustic performance insulation. It is manufactured in Spain and it has been designed and developed with the objective of providing excellent comfort in our homes due to its natural properties of wool and reducing energy consumption.
This natural insulating material is obtained as a by-product in the tanning industry. The product is 100% recyclable and it is ideal for sustainable buildings. In comparison with traditional insulating materials, it significantly reduces the adverse effects of the manufacturing process: energy consumption, greenhouse gases emissions, the release of toxic products to the environment or raw material recycling.
WOOL4BUILD® project has been co-financed by the European Union within the “Cip Eco-Innovation” program framework. The core objective of the project has always been to enter the isolation market with a natural and recycled product that can compete both technically and financially with the traditional market of mineral origin products.
