On the 1st of October 2014, WOOL4BUILD (IMPROVED ISOLATION MATERIAL FOR ECO-BUILDING BASED ON NATURAL WOOL) project began lead by the Spanish Company, INPELSA. The project has been co-financed by EC though the call CIP Ecoinnovation with a duration of 30 months. The project is composed by the following entities: INPELSA, a tannery company; AITEX, the Textile Research Institute; ACR, a construction company; UPV, Politechnical University of Valencia and ENVIPARK, an Environmental Entity.
The main objective of the project is to develop on a large scale with a competitive price, a sustainable product for buildings isolation based on the wastes and by‐products of hair and wool produced in the tannery industry, with improved performance in the acoustic and thermal isolation and able to optimize energy efficiency and indoor air quality.
A successful kick-off meeting was hold on 4th of November in INPELSA’s facilities where it has exposed the main objectives and results to be achieved, as well as the activities to be done during the first six months.
Moreover, a visit to INPELSA’s facilities has been organized in order to better understand the production process of a tannery company and the by-products and waster of hair and wool that will be used duringWOOL4BUILD project.
